J B & S Lees started making cold rolled steel strip in the 1920s, to the very highest standards of the day. Decade after decade of evolution, both in methods and machinery, have seen the company constantly advance those standards. Over fifty years ago we established the first UK facility to produce hardened and tempered steel strip for sawblade and spring manufacture. At this time the Trident brand was introduced which today universally symbolises high quality precision strip.

The 1960s and 70s saw further milestones in product development. Trident Pink Label pinpoint carbide strip and Trident Gold Label bi-metal strip were established and specialist metal cutting bandsaw strip was developed. Today, saw manufacturers acclaim these products for their consistent high quality.
Although occupying the same site since 1872, J B & S Lees has grown into one of the world's leading producers of high quality cold rolled, hardened and tempered and specialist bandsaw strip in a wide range of specifications and sizes. Continuous investment has ensured that the company has retained its pre-eminent position and today has some of the most modern production plant of its type.
